improving medical training with 3D

Case Study: Improving Medical Training with 3D Interactive Environments

Improving the effectiveness of medical training is important for our client, a leading eye hospital in United States. They wanted to improve the way medical procedures were explained. The current methods did not align well with the increasingly digital methods of experiential learning. There was a desire to use interactive 3D environments.

The Solution

The client partnered with us to explore the development of an interactive module to improve medial training with 3D models.

These models explained the anatomy, how the organ functions, what is wrong with the patient, and how to rectify it.

A short demo video of the solution can be accessed here.

Such training would increase the effectiveness of training, and outcomes could also be captured in real time to assess the outcomes.

We developed a sophisticated interactive model explaining the organs functions. We provided an ability for the client to adjust the model based on the situation, and immediately view the corrective procedures are, and the ability to see the results of the corrective surgery as well.

We also captured all data and made insights available for business intelligence and reporting. This allows the client to view the outcomes in real time, and make adjustments.

Technology Used

To improve adoption and improve medical training outcomes with 3D, we developed a web based environment built in Unity. This was deployed on the client’s own technology environments.

Key Benefits

  • Reduced logical costs of training
  • Better training outcomes
  • Built-in analytics to continuously improve the training
